The Firm

Since our incorporation in March 1999, we have been offering financial and business advisory services to diverse Kenyan and international organizations. We are proud to mark 18 years of partnering with our clients, many of whom have been with us since our formative years. Our philosophy of building strong working relationships and proving quality service, responsive to our client needs has enabled us to continuously grow our client portfolio and sustain a high client retention rate.

With our skilled and experienced staff, we provide a comprehensive range of business solutions and where expertise is not available in-house, we have partnered with carefully selected associates so as to make MGK Consulting a one-stop shop for financial advisory. We continue to invest in and develop our staff and resources so as to build the capacity to serve our clients even better.

Our Team

Michael Kimani – Managing Partner

Michael is the founder and managing partner of the firm. His audit and business advisory experience was gained in Murdoch McCrae & Smith and Deloitte & Touché where he worked for a period of over 6 years prior to establishing MGK. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). He is responsible for tax services, business development, developing the client service strategy and ensuring provision of quality professional services.

Daniel Muhia – Audit Partner

Daniel is Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree in finance. He has over 16 years’ professional experience and is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) as well as the Institute of Internal Auditors ( IIA).

His areas of experience cover external, internal audits, forensic audits, due-diligence audits and special audits as well as business consulting and advisory services.   As a team leader, he has been involved in developing overall strategies for various audit assignments and overseeing quality execution as well as managing client relationships.

He has significant experience in the planning and execution of audits in most key sectors including professional and consulting services, not for profit organizations, trading entities, manufacturing, property development and real estate, agriculture, retirement benefits funds, telecommunications and technology, construction and engineering, hospitality and health management organizations

Beatrice Kamau – Manager, Outsourced Service

Beatrice is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Masters in Business Administration (Finance Major) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) from University of Nairobi. She joined the firm in year 2002 and has over 12 year’s professional experience. She leads the business outsourced services engagement team which provides accounting, payroll and tax compliance services.

She is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Joseph Waiharo  –  Tax Manager

Joseph is a Certified Public Accountant (K) and a Certified Public Secretary (K). He is an experienced, professional tax consultant having worked with PKF Kenya for seven years prior to joining MGK. He specializes in tax advisory and compliance. Besides routine tax compliance, he is constantly involved in transaction and business advisory from a tax perspective, conducting tax health checks and handling Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) audits.

James Gichuru – Audit Manager

James is a qualified accountant with over 10 years post qualification experience. He Holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance option) from KCA University and is member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He joined MGK in 2011 as an audit senior and currently manages a diverse portfolio of audit and assurance clients. He is well versed in both external and internal audits and has experience in most industries and sectors of the economy.
